A Spring Gathering
An incredible work of art, the Spring Gathering is adorable and sweet!
Each figure is in its original packaging. Many have their original price stickers from where they were purchased. Each comes with it's Certificate of Authenticity and which number in the collection's run they fall. The documentation/packaging is in good to mint condition: many of which do have bends or creases in their inner paperwork, as that was how it was originally packaged. Most of the outer boxes are in their original condition with no, or very minor, flaws. These were obtained from a private collection and were well cared for.
Maud Humphrey, mother of famous actor, Humphrey Bogart, was famous in her own right. Now you can own a part of history with her collectable figurines. All are gorgeously done and beautiful works of Art. A great gift for anyone you care about. We even have available (separately) much of the paperwork and original catalogs if anyone is interested in aquiring it. If you would like to make an offer on the entire collection, please drop us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org .
Born in Rochester, New York to John Perkins Humphrey and Frances V. Dewey Churchill, she was an American commercial artist, illustrator and watercolorist. She won a Louis Prang and Company competition for Christmas card design and then began working for publisher F. A. Stokes as an illustrator. From the 1890’s through the 1920’s, her work Included child portraits, "illustrating calendars, greeting cards, postcards, fashion magazines, and more than 20 story books." She earned more than $50,000 a year while her husband's surgical practice brought in $20,000 a year. She married Dr. Belmont DeForest Bogart (1867–1934); they had one son, Humphrey, and two daughters. She died in 1940 and was interred in the Columbarium at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
These figurines, based off her portraits and artwork, are still very collectable and sought after.
